Abstract

A process for the preparation of 15-pentadecanolide, wherein bis-(13-oxabicyclo[10.4.0]hexadec-12-yl)peroxide is subjected to a thermal treatment in an organic solvent, eventually followed by hydrogenation of the resulting reaction product, which treatment is carried out in an organic solvent having a boiling point comprised between about 170.degree. and 250.degree. C.
