Abstract

This invention relates to an antifungal block copolymer of poly(vinyl lactam) having the formula ##STR1## where m has a value of from 1 to 3 and from about 15 to about 25 wt. % of a quaternized amino alkyl acrylamide comonomer wherein the quaternizing anion is in part halide --O--CO(CH.sub.2).sub.s CH.dbd.CHZ wherein s has a value of from 4 to 14 and Z is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl radical, which copolymer is comprised of the following units ##STR2## wherein m has a value of from 1 to 3; p has a value of from 1 to 5; r has a value of from 2 to 6; each of X and Y is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl and each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl. The invention also relates to the use of the above polymers as antifungal agents.
