The new carbonylaminostyryls of the formula (I) ##STR1## in which the substituents R.sub.1, A, B and Z have the meaning given in the description, are especially suitable for the production of recording materials which can be used for pressure-sensitive copying, or of thermoreactive or electrochromic recording materials.
