Abstract

A method of controlling the resilience of a vibration suppressor for motor vehicles with variable valves. The controls (RG) generate a parameter (I) for varying the resilience (D) and distinguish between once-only and periodic roadway excitation (x.sub.E), whereby the controls parameters are the detected difference in speed between the body mass (m.sub.a) and the wheel mass (m.sub.R) along with either the body acceleration (a.sub.a) or the body speed (v.sub.a).
