Abstract

Silicon and aluminum N,N-dialkylcarbamates are prepared by reacting a secondary amine and CO.sub.2 with respectively a silicon and an aluminum halide in a reaction medium consisting of an organic solvent and then hydrolyzed by treatment with water in an anhydrous organic solvent.
