Abstract
A thickening agent based upon a polyether ester compound having the formula: ##STR1## Wherein: R.sub.1 is H or ##STR2## R.sub.2 is a hydrocarbon chain having greater than 5 carbon atoms; and (W+X+Y+Z) is greater than 60. The thickening agents are useful in formulating various topical preparations, for example, shampoos, sunscreen lotions, cosmetics and the like.
