Abstract
A facsimile apparatus is connected to an ISDN and is capable of transmission/reception. When a facsimile signal received from the ISDN is one sent to a non-ISDN facsimile apparatus, the facsimile signal received from the ISDN is converted into a non-ISDN facsimile signal and this signal is capable of being transmitted to the non-ISDN facsimile apparatus. Further, the facsimile apparatus is capable of being connected to a plurality of facsimile apparatus via an exchange, and a signal can be transmitted to a facsimile apparatus among the plurality thereof that is designated by a subaddress received from the ISDN. The facsimile apparatus is such that at the time of communication with a non-ISDN facsimile apparatus, communication is performed using the D channel of the ISDN, thereby raising the efficiency of ISDN utilization.
