Abstract

A fluorine-containing compound represented by the general formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.f, X, Y, W, Z, R.sub.1 -R.sub.3, l, m and n are as defined in the specifications. There are disclosed fluorine-containing compounds of specific structure which have in the molecule a fluoroalkyl ether end group, an aliphatic hydrocarbon end group and a carboxyl end group, and have molecular weights of hundreds to about 3,000; and a process for producing the fluorine-containing compounds. These fluorine-containing compounds can be utilized in magnetic recording media in the form of a lubricant composition.
