Abstract

A high pressure gas regulator, the combination comprising an axially movable poppet and an orifice controlled by the poppet in response to poppet axial movement, the orifice having upstream and downstream sides; a main diaphragm responsive to gas pressure at the downstream side of the orifice and operatively connected with the poppet to control poppet movement toward or away from the orifice in response to an increase or decrease in pressure a the downstream side of the orifice, respectively, auxiliary pressure responsive structure at the upstream side of the orifice, moving the poppet and orifice together or apart in response to a decrease or increase in pressure at the upstream side of the orifice, respectively, and housing structure enclosing the poppet, orifice, main diaphragm, and auxiliary pressure responsive structure.
