Abstract

A backpack system having upper and lower modules that are connected by a three-axes ball joint assembly. This joint assembly permits free movement of the hips relative to the shoulders in all directions while transmitting the load to the hips. The backpack system can easily be separated into upper and lower modules which can be worn independently of each other.
