Abstract
A method for processing an imagewise exposed color photographic material using fast developing time while maintaining stable processing conditions, reduced developer replenishing, and light fastness of developed color images. The method comprises developing a color photographic material containing silver halide grains comprising (i) substantially no silver iodide and (ii) at least about 80 mol % silver chloride with a developer comprising (i) substantially no benzyl alcohol and (ii) a p-phenylenediamine derivative represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 represents a straight chain or branched alkylene group having 3 or 4 carbon atoms and wherein the developing is for a period of time of less than 30 seconds.
