Abstract

A method of chemiluminescence assay of the activity of peroxidase is disclosed, which employes (i) luminol or isoluminol as a substrate, (ii) hydrogen peroxide, and (iii) at lease one compound, serving as an enhancer for the activity of peroxidase, selected from the group consisting of ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydroxyl group, an alkali metal salt of hydroxyl group (--OM, where M is an alkali metal), an amino group which may have a substituent, a halogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which may have a substituent; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each represent hydrogen or a halogen; R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 each represent hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which may have a substituent, or an alkoxyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which may have a substituent; ##STR2## wherein R.sup.6 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, which may have a substituent, or an alkene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, which may have a substituent, R.sup.7 to R.sup.10 each represent hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, which may have a substituent, or a halogen, X represents oxygen or sulfur, Y represents --CH-- or nitrogen, which may be the same or different, and Y' represents carbon or nitrogen, which may be the same or different.
