Abstract
A nitrite-oxidized base lignosulfonate and a method of making the same; the method comprises providing a base lignosulfonate material and oxidizing it in the presence of sodium nitrite under alkaline conditions at a temperature greater than about 100.degree. C.; useful products of same are dispersants for dyes and dispersants for setting materials e.g. gypsum.
