Abstract

Intermetallic compounds of ruthenium and aluminum are disclosed comprising about 40 to 51 atomic percent aluminum, about 0.8 to 9 atomic percent scandium and boron, and the balance substantially ruthenium. The intermetallic compounds have a high hardness up to about 1150.degree. C., and good room-temperature toughness.
