Abstract
A cationic dye-borate anion compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## where D+ is a cationic dye moiety selected from the group consisting of cationic cyanine, carbocyanine, hemicyanine, rhodamine, and azamethine dyes; R.sup.1 is alkyl; and R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are aryl. Such cationic dye-borate anion compounds are useful photoinitiators of free radical addition reactions.
