Abstract
Benzene or a chlorinated benzene feedstock compound represented by the formula C.sub.6 H.sub.6-x Cl.sub.x is chlorinated in the rectifying zone of a catalytic distillation reactor to produce a chlorinated benzene product compound represented by the formula C.sub.6 H.sub.5-x Cl.sub.x+1, where x is an integer in the range of from 0 to 5.
