Abstract

Use of spirocyclic boric acid esters of the general formula ##STR1## as flame retardants for plastics. R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 either independently of one another represent divalent radicals of alcohols having 2 to 6 OH groups or together represent the tetravalent radical of pentaerythritol, Z represents an N base and m represents an integer from 1 to 3.
