Abstract
Carrier rack apparatus for mounting bicycles, skiis and the like to the existing exterior spare tire mount on the rear door of a vehicle, the invention in its several embodiments provide a mounting hub sandwiched between the existing spare tire mounting device carried on the rear door of a vehicle and the wheel of the spare tire carried on the door. This mounting hub detachably receives a carrier rack configured according to the invention and which mounts articles such as one or more bicycles, skiis, a gas can, etc. Preferred embodiments of the invention provide carrier rack structures which are adjustable both vertically and also in at least one horizontal sense, these preferred rack structures being capable of adjustable movement in six degrees of freedom.
