Abstract

Process for synthesizing 2-aminobenzophenones such as the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are substituents and r and s are 1 or 2, by reacting an anthranilic acid amide e.g. an N-alkoxy-N-alkyl anthranilic acid amide, with a halobenzene in the presence of an alkyllithium reagent.
