Abstract
A photoconductor for electrophotography includes an electroconductive substrate and a photosensitive layer formed on the substrate. The photosensitive layer includes a novel azo compound as a charge generating substance therein. One example of the azo compound is represented by general formula: ##STR1## wherein A stands for a coupler residue, and each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is one of a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group and an alkoxy group.
