Abstract
The invention relates to the use of the diphenol corresponding to formula (I) ##STR1## for the production of high molecular weight, thermoplastic, aromataic polycarbonates, to a process for the production of these polycarbonates and to the new thermoplastic having improved heat resistance obtainable by the process.
