Abstract
A class of benzothiazepine esters having structures related to that of diltiazem are provided which possess vasodilating activity while being virtually free of cardiodepressive effects. The esters are useful in the treatment of arterial hypertension and disturbances of the cerebral circulation. The compounds have the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R represents hydrogen or an electronegative group (preferably a halogen atom, or a nitro, trifluoromethyl or methoxy group); and
