Abstract

A method of treating fibrous materials comprises applying a polydiorganosiloxane having at least one unit (a) of the general formula ##STR1## and at least one unit (b) of the general formula ##EQU1## wherein R is a hydroxyl, monovalent hydrocarbon or hydrocarbonoxy group, R' is a divalent hydrocarbon group which optionally contains oxygen and/or nitrogen, R' is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group optionally containing an oxygen atom in the form of a hydroxyl group and/or a C.dbd.O group, a is 1 or 2, b 2 or 3 and each n from 2 to 8. Treated fibrous materials have improved softness with improved non-yellowing characteristics.
