Abstract
This invetions concerns a prosthetic ligament which consists of a core (1) constituted from adjacent longitudinal synthetic fibres, which are coated with a biocompatible visco-elastic substance, such as a biocompatible elastomer resin, in the inter-articulate part of the ligament, in such a way as to leave free and uncoated the parts at the opposite extremities of the core. In order to improve the mechanical qualities of the ligament and make them resemble as closely as possible those of a biological ligament, the fibres of the core are inter-twined before coating with resin and kept intertwined by this coating.
