Abstract
Epoxides are prepared by reaction of compounds containing olefinic unsaturation, for example .alpha.-olefins, terpenes and steroids, with an aliphatic diperoxydicarboxylic acid. The diperoxydicarboxylic acid contains 2 to 16 carbon atoms and suitably at least 6 carbon atoms. The process gives a good epoxidation process and does not give rise to byproduct formation.
