Abstract
Disclosed are .alpha.-(.omega.-Cyanoalkanoyl)-.gamma.-butyrolactone represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein n represents an integer of 7 to 11, and a method for producing the same, which comprises reacting .omega.-cyano fatty acid ester represented by the formula:
