Abstract

Group VIB metal sulfide slurry catalysts having a pore volume in the pore size range 10 to 300.ANG. radius of at least 0.1 cc/g. Also, Group VIB metal sulfide catalysts having a surface area of at least 20 m.sup.2 /g. Suitable Group VIB metals are molybdenum and tungsten, preferably molybdenum. The Group VIB metal sulfide can be approximately a Group VIB metal disulfide. The slurry catalyst can be promoted with a Group VIII metal, such as nickel or cobalt.
