Abstract

Disclosed is a magnetic recording medium comprising a non-magnetic support, and a first magnetic layer, a second magnetic layer and a third magnetic layer laminated on a non-magnetic support surface in this order, a total layer thickness of the second magnetic layer and the third magnetic layer of 0.7 .mu.m or less, and a coercive force of a ferromagnetic powder contained in the third magnetic layer being 1.2 to 2.5 times as strong as a coercive force of a ferromagnetic powder contained in the first magnetic layer.
