Abstract
A novel magnetic recording medium is provided comprising a non-magnetic support having provided thereon a magnetic layer comprising a ferromagnetic powder dispersed in a binder, wherein at least one fatty acid amide compound represented by formula (I), at least one fatty acid ester represented by formula (II) and at least one fatty acid ester represented by formula (III) are provided in or on the magnetic layer: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a C.sub.13-21 straight-chain saturated hydrocarbon group; ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 represents a C.sub.12-21 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; and R.sup.3 represents a C.sub.1-10 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; ##STR3## wherein R.sup.4 represents a C.sub.12-21 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; R.sup.5 represents a C.sub.2-3 divalent hydrocarbon group; R.sup.6 represents a C.sub.1-10 straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group; and n represents an integer of from 1 to 10 where n may be the same or different when the magnetic layer contains two or more compounds represented by formula (III).
