Abstract

Chalcone derivatives represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a straight chain, branched chain or cyclic alkyl group having 4 to 15 carbon atoms or an alkenyl group having 3 to 15 carbon atoms, and occurs at the 2- or 4-position, R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, a straight or branched chain alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and X is a straight or branched chain alkylene group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, are disclosed. These compounds have anti-ulcer effect, gastric mucosal protection effect and antisecretory effect.
