Abstract
The blood level of orally administered N-acetylcysteine is substantially increased in a mammal when the N-acetylcysteine is administered in combination with tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, in a molar ratio of about 1:0.8 to about l:l.2.
