Abstract

An ink comprises a recording agent and a liquid medium capable of dissolving or dispersing the recording agent, wherein said ink contains a compound represented by the following Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent a group selected from a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group; and R.sub.3 represents a monohydric hydroxyalkyl group. The ink is suitably used for ink-jet recording.
