Abstract
The present invention relates to a photosensitive member with a photosensitive layer on or over an electrically conductive substrate, in which the photosensitive layer comprises at least one of azo pigments selected from the group consisting of azo pigments represented by the following general formulas [I], [II] and [III]. ##STR1## in which Z.sub.1 is a residual group of a condensed ring excluding the benzene ring and the carbonyl group in the formula [I]; Z.sub.2 is a residual group of a condensed ring excluding the naphthalene ring and the carbonyl group in the formula [II]; Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 may have a substituent respectively; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represent independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group or a nitro group; Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3, Ar.sub.4 and Ar.sub.5 represent independently an arylene group which may have a substituent; Ar.sub.6 represents an aryl group which may have a substituent or a residual group of a coupler component having a phenolic hydroxy group; Cp.sub.1, Cp.sub.2 and Cp.sub.3 represent independently a residual group of a coupler component having a phenolic hydroxy group; n.sub.1 and n.sub.2 represent independently an integer of 0 or 1.
