Abstract

Silicon and aluminium N,N-dialkylcarbamates are prepared by reacting a secondary amine and CO.sub.2 with respectively a silicon and an aluminium halide in a reaction medium consisting of an organic solvent. The respective hydrolysis products are obtained from said N,N-dialkylcarbamates by treatment with water in tetrahydrofuran.
