Abstract

A zero error digital servo system where positioning is achieved by minimizing the positioning error value to zero. Stable logic states of sensors is used to achieve positioning instead of zero crossing of the error signal value. The magnitude of positioning error is reduced to a zero value by unique design of the digital encoder and positioning of the sensors. Stable logic states of the sensors indicates true position of the encoder with reference to the encoder sensors. Any deviation of the encoder from the true position is immediately detected by change in the logic states of the sensors. The technique can be used for both rotary as well as linear encoders.
