Abstract
A dihalobenzenoid compound is reacted with a dihydric phenol containing an azo group in the presence of a base, an organic solvent and an azeotrope former. Dihydric phenols which do not contain azo groups may also be included in the reaction mixture. This reaction is generally carried out at a temperature of from about 20.degree. to about 250.degree.
