Abstract

X-ray attenuation measurements at two or more energies are carried out on core samples of earth materials for use in determining relative Compton scattering and photoelectric contributions to attenuation. The measurements are utilized to calculate material bulk density from the change in attenuation between such dual X-ray energies and the attenuation for one of the dual X-ray energies.
