Abstract
A process for preparing 1,2-difluoroethane or 1,1,2-trifluoroethane by hydrogenation of 1,2-dichlorodifluoroethylene or 1-chlorotrifluoroethylene in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The process is conducted in the gas phase at a temperature ranging from 100.degree. C. to 220.degree. C., the molar ratios between H.sub.2 and olefin being higher than 3.
