Abstract
Noval abnormally glycosylated a.sub.2 -macroglobulins have been found in sera of patients suffering from autoimmune diseases. Such abnormally glycosylated materials have been isolated. The presence of these abnormally glycosylated materials in a patient's serum provides a means for diagnosing such diseases.
