Abstract
Azo dyes of the formula ##STR1## where X is alkyl or alkoxy each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or halogen, X' is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or halogen, Y and Y' are independently of each other hydrogen or halogen, Z is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy or alkylthio each of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or halogen, M is a 1-, 2- or 3-valent metal cation, ammonium or an organic ammonium compound, m is 1, 2 or 3 and n is 2 to 10, are suitable for use as image dyes in photographic silver dye bleach materials. The dyes of the invention can also be used to dye textile materials.
