Abstract
A hollow one-piece intramedullary nail for the tibia has a proximal end segment, a bent intermediate segment and a distal end segment. The central axis of the proximal end segment diverges from the central axis of the distal end segment at an angle of about 11.degree.; the proximal end segment and the intermediate segment have a total length in the range of about 105 mm; and the sum of the length of the proximal end segment and half of the length of the intermediate segment corresponds to about one third of the total length of the nail.
