Abstract

The present invention relates to anthracycline derivatives of the formula I ##STR1## in which at least one of the two substitutents R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents an N-oxidized sugar or an N-oxidized sugar combination, and a chemical process for the preparation of these compounds and their use as medicaments for the treatment of malignant tumors.
