Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a nickel pillared interlayered clay characterized by a temperature program reductin maxima of less than 500.degree. C., a Type V adsorption/desorption isotherm and a bimodal pore size distribution. This clay has particular application in the catalytic hydrogenation of an unsaturated edible oil wherein an edible oil is contacted with catalytically effective amount of the clay.
