Abstract
A composition comprising an aromatic carbonate polymer wherein in the backbone of said polymer there is a siloxane unit of the structure below ##STR1## wherein n is an integer of one to about 100, R and R' are each selected from the group consisting of alkyl of one to twelve carbon atoms, inclusive, cycloalkyl of four to eight carbon atoms, inclusive, aryl or six to twenty carbon atoms, inclusive, aryl substituted alkyl of seven to twenty two carbon atoms, inclusive, and A ##STR2## wherein p is an integer of zero to about 4, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5, are the same or different and are selected from hydrogen, alkyl of one to six carbon atoms, inclusive, and with the proviso that there is sufficient A present that the flame retardance of the polymer is enhanced compared to the polymer without the said siloxane unit.
