Abstract

A method of treatment of anxiety and depression in mammals is described which comprises administering to a mammal in need thereof an effective amount of a trifluoromethylphenyl-tetrahydropyridine derivative of formula I ##STR1## wherein Alk represents a straight or branched (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkylene chain and R is selected from the group consisting of cyano, acetyl, (C.sub.3 -C.sub.7)cycloalkyl, pyridyl, 1-oxide-pyridyl and naphthyl, or of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
