Abstract
The present invention pertains to novel solid solutions involving V.sub.2 O.sub.3, ZrO.sub.2 and TiO.sub.2 and the method for their preparation. The compositions involving V.sub.2 O.sub.3, ZrO.sub.2 and TiO.sub.2 fall within the shaded area of a polygon in a ternary composition diagram of V.sub.2 O.sub.3, ZrO.sub.2 and TiO.sub.2 as shown in the drawing herein e.g., FIG. 1. These materials may be used as an oxidation catalyst or in the manufacture of high temperature refractories.
