Abstract

Aralkylphenylureas of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrogen, alkoxy or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together are unsubstituted or substituted alkylene which may or may not be interrupted by oxygen or sulfur, Y is hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy or haloalkyl, A is unsubstituted or substituted alkylene, Z is hydrogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl, aryloxy, halogen, a C.sub.4 H.sub.4 chain which is fused to the benzene ring to give a substituted or unsubstituted naphthyl ring, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio, thiocyanato, cyano, ##STR2## R' and R' being hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cycloalkyl or unsubstituted or substituted phenyl and n is 1, 2, 3 or 4, and herbicides containing these ureas.
