Abstract

Disclosed are a process for preparing an optically active 2-oxoimidazolidine derivative of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, according to the process described in the specification; and a 3-acyl-2-oxoimidazolidine-4-carboxylin acid ester derivative having (S, R) configuration of the formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 represents a tert-butyl group or a benzyl group, and R.sup.3 represents a lower alkyl group or an aryl group.
