Abstract

A photopolymerizable composition which comprises (a) a polymerizable compound having at least one ethylenic unsaturated bond, and (b) a salt formed by an organic cationic dye compound and an organic boron compound anion, wherein the salt is represented by the following formula (I), in which an organic cationic dye compound is employed as D.sup..sym. to impart high spectral sensitivities to the composition ##STR1## wherein D.sup..sym. represents a cationic dye, and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, an alkaryl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, or a group derived therefrom; and two or more of the substituent groups R.sup.1 and R.sup.4 can be combined to form a cyclic structure. The cationic dye D.sup..sym. is represented by formula (II)
