Abstract
This invention relates to a process for preparing flame-retardant polyurethane foams comprising impregnating an open-cell polyurethane foam with a mixture of a cross-linkable polychloroprene elastomer latex; a flame-retarding zinc salt of a metaboric or polyboric acid; a crosslinking agent, preferably zinc oxide; and, optionally, aluminum hydroxide and other additives. This invention further relates to the use of the low flammability, non-melting polyurethane foams for the manufacture of upholstery materials.
